No one should go hungry

If you need food, we can help

About

ABOUT share the harvest

Share the Harvest, a partnership between Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Fauquier Community Food Bank, launched in December of 2021. Today we feed about 60-70 people a month, and the numbers are steadily rising.

Patrons may be out of work, on unemployment compensation, disabled, caring for others, without transportation, or on a limited, fixed income.

Food insecurity cannot be seen but touches every community. Nationally, 38 million people face hunger, according to Feeding America, a national network of food banks.

In our county, the food insecurity rate was 6.4 percent in 2019. Given the inflation we have been
experiencing, we are expecting the rate to continue to increase.

Giving Back, Being There
Helping people with food is more than providing physical nourishment. It is being present and listening. It’s the little things:

  • Having a few minutes to relax while we put together the order and bag the food

  • Children being able to select a book to take home with them

  • Being able to offer connections to other groups who offer a variety of needed services and so

  • much more…

It can give people hope that life will get better, keep them going and help them navigate some of life’s hurdles. Everyone at some point will need assistance of some type - that includes all of us. No one ever expects to need help with food. We need to help each other out in whatever way we can.

No one should go hungry.
